This is an investigation and potential class action lawsuit against Uponor Inc.
Uponor Inc. manufactures heating and plumbing systems. Uponor plumbing systems are used in residential and commercial buildings throughout the United States. They use a cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubing instead of metal piping to distribute the water.
This investigation is based upon consumer reports that Uponor's plumbing systems and fittings may fail prematurely causing leaks and water damage. The fittings may have a manufacturing defect that can cause corrosion.
Uponor plumbing systems and fittings allegedly fail when they are exposed to water because of a chemical reaction known as dezincification, which results in reduced water flow and leaks. Not only do the fittings cause damage when they burst and leak, but also impairs the ability of a home’s plumbing system to effectively provide water to appliances.
Uponor marketed their brass insert fittings as being resistant to corrosion, easier to install, and longer-lasting than copper plumbing systems. However, these brass insert fittings began to fail prematurely across the country, resulting in substantial damage to properties.
