Lowes Companies allegedly improperly installed home clothing dryers when it used flexible metal material for the exhaust hose creating a risk of fire and other property damage.
This is a pending class action lawsuit against Lowes Companies Inc. in which it is alleged that Lowes improperly installed home clothing dryers which creates a severe risk of fire damage.
The class action lawsuit alleges that Lowes held itself out to consumers as "experts" when installing home appliances. According to the class action complaint, Lowes stated on its web site: "Our installation process is backed by more than 60 years of home improvement expertise, and combines the skill of specially trained installers with the service Lowe’s is known for.” The class action complaint further alleges that during the installation process, Lowes installers used "flexible" metal materials as the exhaust vent.
The manufacturers of dryers however explicitly warned in installation manuals and on warning labels posted on the dryer itself that when installing the dryer the installer must use "rigid" metal for the exhaust hose to avoid the risk of fire or other damage.
This class action lawsuit seeks to require Lowes to abide by its own installation manual and warning labels of dryer manufactures and to replace those installations that were performed improperly by Lowes.
