This is an investigation and pending class action against Samsung alleging that the printers sold by Samsung are programmed to shut down and display a "toner empty" message when in fact there is significant amounts of toner left in the cartridge. Users cannot pursue the relatively cheaper options of refilling their old cartridges or using another company's cartridge as Samsung employs a "Smart chip" technology to force consumers to use Samsung cartridges. Samsung derive more revenues from cartridge sales than printer slales.
