Investigation Details
Investigation of OnStar's business practices. OnStar is an emergency assistance subscriber service installed in select vehicles manufactured by General Motors Corporation. Some consumers have been billed for OnStar's $16.95 monthly service charge either after they cancelled their subscription or when they never signed up for OnStar in the first place. In some instances, consumers purchased a GM vehicle and were offered a free trial subscription to OnStar; however, when the trial finished and the consumer elected not to become a subscriber, the OnStar subscription charge appeared on their credit card statement anyway. If you purchased a GM vehicle with OnStar, accepted a free trial of OnStar's service, or are a former OnStar subscriber, you should check your credit card and bank statements for unauthorized charges.
