Certain lots of Advanced Medical Optics' contact lenses solution may have been contaminated with bacteria, which may cause eye infections or Microbial Keratitis to unsuspecting consumers.
Investigation and potential class action against Advanced Medical Optics, which is the manufaturer of the "Complete MoisturePlus" multipurpose contact lens care solution and Active Packs.
Advanced Medical Optics has recalled 2.9 million bottles of Complete MoisturePlus contact lens solutions after harmful bacteria were found in units sold in Japan. The contamination was found after a retailer in Japan complained that bottles of the contact lens solution appeared to be damaged. Product sold in Japan were found to have bacterial contamination, which compromised sterility. Because of this production-line issue at its manufacturing plant in China, Advanced Medical Optics has taken the necessary precaution of recalling 18 lots distributed in the U.S. which were manufactured on the same production lines during the same production period.
Contamination from contact lens solution may have serious side effects, including eye infection and microbial keratitis.
Included in the recall: COMPLETE MoisturePLUS Active Pack; COMPLETE MoisturePLUS 12oz (360 mL); COMPLETE MoisturePLUS 2 X 12 oz.
