Investigation and potential class action lawsuits against Airwick, SC Johnson; Proctor & Gamble; Reckitt Benckiser and Walgreens.
According to a recent report, 12 out of 14 popular air freshener products contained phthalates. These 12 products tested positive for the chemicals even though none of them listed phthalates as an ingredient.
This investigation is undertaken on behalf of consumers who have purchased air fresheners containing harmful chemicals called phthalates.
Phthalates are used in air fresheners to dissolve and carry the smell of fragrances. When people use air fresheners, the phthalates are released into the air. They may then be inhaled, or the aerosol particles may land on the skin and be absorbed. Once these chemicals enter the bloodstream, they can alter hormone levels and cause other health problems.
The investigation includes Air Wick Scented Oils, Glade PlugIn Scented Oil, Febreze NOTICEables Scented Oil, Lysol Brand II Disinfectant and Walgreens Scented Bouquet Air Freshener.
