This is an ongoing investigation and pending class action against BMW Group and Bridgestone Corporation in which it is alleged that BMW has equipped its 2006 and 2007 BMW 3 series vehicles with defective run-flat tires manufactured by Bridgestone.
The class action lawsuit alleges that these run-flat tires are defective, prone to pop from normal driving, prone to uneven wear, unrepairable and cause disruptive noise. In addition, the class action complaint alleges that the tires on the 2006 and 2007 BMW 3 series vehicles must be replaced prematurely---in many cases after less than 10,000 miles, and very often after less than 20,000 miles. Further, the class action lawsuit against both BMW and Bridgestone alleges that BMW and Bridgestone failed to disclose that the run-flat tires are defective and seeks damages so that the BMW owners can avoid costly repairs, unnecessary property damage or, even worse, needless injury.
