Investigation and potential class action against Intel and Toshiba relating to allegations that computers (laptop and desktop) that utilize the Intel 945 Chipset, including the Toshiba Satellite A200 12X, are defective.
Reports suggest that the defect makes these computers incapable of supporting 4 GB of usable memory. Computers that use the Intel 945 Chipset permit the installation of 4 GB of installed memory but only approximately 3 GB of memory is actually usable. The remaining memory is not accessible and, therefore, of no value to consumers. Several computer manufacturers have advertised computers that contain the Intel 945 Chipset as being "expandable to 4 GB" of memory, which representation may be false.
