Former employees or employees who take a leave of absence may not receive proper COBRA notices thereby losing their health insurance, either temporarily or permanently.
Investigation and potential class action against Strategic Resource Group on behalf of consumers who have been involved, through their employers, with a health and medical insurance plan commonly known as the "Mini-Med Plan."
A mini-med plan is a low-cost healthcare plan for somebody who cannot afford traditional insurance or who is not eligible for major medical insurance, like a part-time or hourly employee. Strategic Resource Group has been involved in developing and selling the Mini-Med Plan to employers throughout the country. Legal actions are ongoing relating to the Mini-Med product, based on the failure of employers to administer it properly. Specifically, the employers fail to provide required COBRA notices, which often leads to gaps in coverage whenever an employee is forced to take time off work (i.e. for a serious illness).
As a result, at a time when these employees need their health insurance most, the coverage often lapses.
