Investigation of a consumer protection class action case against YTB International, Inc.; YourTravelBiz.com; YTB.com; and YTB Travel Network, Inc. The alleged scam run by these entities happens when consumers pay the defendant an original subscription fee of approximately $450 and a monthly subscription fee of $49.95 with the expectation that they are buying into a travel agency franchise that is capable of generating generous returns on the investment. In reality, the business model is a pyramid scheme that has generated millions of dollars for those at the top of the pyramid and left consumers with a return of pennies on the dollar. Pyramid schemes such as the one YTB International, Inc., YourTravelBiz.com, YTB.com and YTB Travel Network, Inc. have been expressly made illegal through various state statutes including Illinois state statutes.
