Investigation and pending nationwide class action lawsuit against Mattel, Inc., the parent company of Fisher-Price, on behalf of purchasers of toys recalled because they were manufactured using lead paint.
The class action complaint alleges that Mattel negligently coated millions of toys in lead paint, which in turn has put thousands of children at risk for lead poisoning. It also seeks to have Mattel pay for the lead testing of affected children, as well as damages to meet the children's medical needs related to lead exposure from the recalled toys. Mattel's lead paint recall includes over 92 different toys, including the popular Fisher-Price Big Bird, Elmo, Dora and Diego characters, the Pixar Cars 'Sarge' die-cast toy car, as well as the various Barbie accessory toys, the Fisher-Price Bongo Band toys, and the Geo Trax Locomotive Toys. The table below does not provide an exhaustive list of the recalled toys sold nationwide at various times between 2006 and 2007, but provides a brief sample: Elmo Stacking Rings, May 2007 to August 2007; Press 'n Go Elmo, May 2007 to August 2007; Dora, Backpack, Perrito Figure Pack, May 2007 to August 2007; Dora's Talking Pony Place.
