Investigation and pending class action lawsuit against Charter Cable Company and Comcast Inc. concerning alleged misrepresentation about "digital cable packages" being sold to consumers. The investigation to date brings into question whether "digital cable" is actually being delivered to consumers.
The investigation to date has led to two nationwide class actions against Charter Cable Company and Comcast, Inc for allegedly misrepresenting to consumers that they were purchasing and receiving "digital" cable services when in fact they were only receiving analog cable services. The "digital" cable services are cited by the industry as more costly because of the infrastructure required to provide digital services. However, though touted as digital cable and paying a premium for it, and in some cases all channels delivered by the companies, consumers who purchased "digital" cable did not receive it.
