Investigation and pending class action lawsuit against most of the major air freight carriers in the world, including Air France, Air France-KLM Group, Air France Cargo, Air France-KLM Cargo, Asiana Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Deutsche Lufthansa, Lufthansa Cargo, Japan Airlines International Co., Korean Airlines Co., SAS, SAS Cargo, UAL Corp., United Airlines, United Airlines Cargo and International Air Transport Assoc.
The class action lawsuit alleges a broad global conspiracy to fix, raise maintain and stabilize prices for fuel, security and insurance surcharges in air cargo shipping. Surcharges are fees charged by the defendant carriers to compensate them for certain external costs. For example, after September 11, 2001, a surcharge was added for security reasons.
This class action alleges that the defendants unlawfully set the price of these surcharges.
